Time for an action plan
26 November 2018
AAT members believe that reporting ethnicity pay gaps is not enough to engender change. Some two-thirds of AATs surveyed said the time is now right for the UK government to introduce a legal obligation to publish an action plan with those ethnicity pay figures.
The AAT said that rules on the gender pay gap simply require companies to report their pay gaps. While the more enlighten companies produce an action plan, the AAT believes it would be foolish to repeat this mistake when it comes to ethnicity pay reporting.
It also said that the threshold for ethnicity pay reporting should be lower than the present starting point of 250-plius employers. The AAT would like to see the requirements in place for all companies employing more than 50 employees.
