Accountant takes charge of SFO
11 April 2018
'Experienced’ financial investigator, Mark Thompson, has taken charge of the Serious Fraud Office (on a temp basis at least). He is the first non-lawyer in this post.
Thompson started life as a police officer with the Met Police before training as a chartered accountant in 1997. He then worked for both the National Audit Office and KPMG Forensic.
Thompson joined the SFO in 2004 and headed its Proceeds of Crime Division from 2012 to 2016. In May 2015 he was appointed the CFO.
