Bullying allegations denied

06 June 2019

In a rare insight into the working of the Big 4 a senior male partner at KPMG has stepped down from his management role and taken a leave of absence following an investigation into his conduct.

The Financial Times recently reported that two senior female partners had resigned over the way the Big 4 firm had handled bullying allegations against a senior male partner, who it did not name. The partner in question was Sanjay Thakkar (head of deal advisory). He had been sent on a leadership training course and been forced to formally apologised over the way he spoke to colleagues. But as pressure built on the firm and more allegations came to light Thakkar stepped aside “in the wider interest of the firm”. In the originally internal investigation KPMG had found his behaviour, while requiring improvement, did not amount to bullying.
