Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante has revealed that he is a trained accountant. He said he worked towards the qualification because he was not sure if he would make it as a professional footballer.
The Frenchman has won the Premiership with both Leicester and Chelsea in his first two full seasons in England.
Kante explained: “I was at Boulogne in the second team – the sixth and then the fifth division. I wasn’t professional, so I kept studying because I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make a living as a footballer.”
At 18 after his A-levels Kante did two more years of study in accountancy. When he went up to the first team he became a professional so stopped studying. He said: “I got my qualification in accountancy, but now I prefer to concentrate on football!” We bet.
