Banking hubs the future

13 March 2019

Three of the UK’s largest banks have joined forces to launch jointly-run mini-branches for business customers, amid the rising concern over branch closures and rising costs.

Barclays, Lloyds, and NatWest have opened their first ‘business banking hub’ in Perry Barr, Birmingham, with five more pilots planned in cities that include Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol.

The hubs will have longer opening time - 8am to 8pm – and will allow businesses to pay in money and cheques and exchange cash. The hubs will be managed by G4S and Vaultex.

NatWest’s Alison Rose said: “We have listened to what our business customers really want from our cash services. It is now more important than ever that we continue to offer innovative services, and we are creating an infrastructure that allows small business owners and entrepreneurs to do what they do best – run their business.”
