Employers believe future accountants will need greater data and analysis skills, and become a businesses’ strategic thinkers, says new AAT poll.
Being fearless, innovative, and opinionated will become the important characteristics that tomorrow’s employers want to see.
That means listening skills, teamwork and motivation will become less important as employees more to flexible working solutions over the next 15 years!
AAT CEO, Mark Farrar, said that if decision-makers predictions become the norm then employees will need those better data analysis skills to charm future employers.
He felt the rise in importance of skills such as being a consultant and strategic thinking should not come as a huge surprise when we look at recent office evolution.
Farrar pointed out that automation will removed more mundane manual tasks, free up accountants to concentrate on the more interesting and added value areas of accountancy, such as the production of management information and trend analysis.
