Home address protection
09 May 2018
New laws have been introduced to help protect home address information held at Companies House.
The law has now been changed to make it easier to remove home address from the company register. It applies to company directors, and others such as secretaries, people with significant control (PSC) and LLP members, whose home address is publicly available on company documents.
At the cost of £55 you can remove a home address. However, an alternative correspondence address is still needed it you are being appointed to a live company, as a current director. This will replace your home address on the public register.
Those no longer appointed to a company will not need to provide an alternative address. Instead only the first half of your postcode will be available to the public.
This process is also not available if the home address has been used as a company’s registered office.
