Small traders could soon be able to take card payments from customers with an app on their phone, rather than via a card terminal.
Worldpay, a FTSE 100 company, has launched a pilot scheme to help mircobusinesses with their payment processes. It means instead of having to buy and operate cumbersome hardware businesses will just need to download a free app.
The downside is that those using the app will only be able to accept payments of up to £30 as this is the current ceiling for contactless card transactions.
