ACCA welcomes MTD delay
25 April 2017
ACCA welcomed the government’s decision to drop Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation from the finance bill.
Head of tax, Chas Roy-Chowdhury, said: “We welcome the government’s decision to avoid rushing the MTD legislation process.”
The ACCA was among a number of leading bodies that raised serious concerns the implementation plan for MTD, and had pushed for a delay until after the General Election to ensure that there is time for full and comprehensive debate.
Roy-Chowdhury was also pleased that the decision to delay other measurers considered ‘controversial’ – such as interest reduction, loss relief carry forward, an end to permanent ‘non-dom’ status and the dividend allowance reduction.
