ACCA PER changes: less is more
The ACCA is introducing a new PER policy in 2016, and it is promising a new, more user-friendly recording tool as part of the update.
January 2016
The ACCA has changed the way students achieve their performance objectives: rather than having to answer challenging questions, PQs will have to record achievements by ‘ticking off’ five elements and submitting one reflective statement of up to 300 words for each performance objective. The ACCA is also reducing the Essential performance objectives from nine to five.
When it comes to the Options, trainees will still have four to achieve but will have 15 to choose from instead of 11.
Finally, workplace mentors will in future be called ‘practical experience supervisors’.
Part qualifieds will still need to complete the Professional Ethics module and have 36 months of relevant practical experience before they can become a member.
The association has confirmed that any trainee who has started recording their performance objectives should continue working through them and ensure they are signed off. The ACCA will then automatically transfer the signed-off performance objectives to the new system.
