Time to defer Making Tax Digital?
21 April 2017
ACCA has said that the call for a snap General Election must mean the implementation of HMRC’s Making Tax Digital strategy has to be delayed.
ACCA’s Chas Roy-Chowdhury emphasised that the association has long called for a full deferral of Making Tax Digital until 2020 “to fully allow both HMRC and business to prepare and minimise disruption”.
He believes the general election will further complicate the implementation of the proposals, as well as creating too much uncertainty for business during a profoundly difficult economic cycle.
